The Sensations of Pornography: What comes with it

We live in a world today, where sexual immorality has become a norm in our daily lives. The human race is losing its conscience, society is fast transforming. What used to be an abomination is now a trend that we are proud to participate in.
The English dictionary defines pornography as an explicit literary or visual depiction of sexual subject matter; a display of material of an erotic nature.
Pornography arouses sexual desires or excitement. It extends beyond watching videos solely created for sexual excitements, it covers various events and publications one could imagine. Watching pictures, music videos and movies with sexual immoral contents that creates an obscene mental image in our minds equally amounts to watching pornography.

Pornography is a very robust force that has become increasingly widespread in western culture since the advent of the internet. Today, most teenagers indulge in this promiscuous act of pornography in camera without the knowledge of their parents and guardians all because of the availability of the internet and the issuance of phones to these young ones at a young and prime age. It is becoming a societal trending act amongst adolescents, still in the light of that - I can't deny the fact that this grievous act is commonly done by the adults (married men and women inclusive).
Pornography is indeed a great ploy by the devil to disconnect and drive away man from the presence of God.
                  Effects of Pornography
• It affects our relationship with God
• It affects the victim's relationship with his/her spouse because the victim involved in pornography feel less satisfied with their conjugal relations and less emotionally attached to their spouses.
John Mayer in a 2010 interview with Playboy Magazine, had this to say
"Pornography? It's a new synaptic pathway. You wake up in the morning, open a thumbnail page, and it leads to a Pandora's Box of visuals. There have probably been days when I saw 300 (women)  before I go out of bed.....  Internet pornography has absolutely changed my generation's expectations....  You're looking for the one photo out of 100 you swear is going to be the one you finish to, and you still don't finish. Twenty seconds ago you thought that photo was the hottest thing you ever saw, but you throw it back.... How does that not affect the psychology of having a relationship with somebody? It's got to."(1)
• Pornography endangers greater sexual permissiveness, which in turn leads to a greater risk out-of-wedlock births and STDs. These, in turn, lead to still more weakness and frivolities.
• Pornography use is a pathway to infidelity and divorce, and is frequently a major factor in these family disasters.
•It activates a part of our brain that is specifically organized to look for sexual cues. It affects the brain, it's hormonal, neurochemical, and neurological consequences that play a role in developing attachments.
• Among couples affected by one spouse's addiction, two thirds experience a loss of interest in sexual intercourse.
• Both spouses perceive pornography viewing as tantamount to infidelity.
• Pornography viewing leads to a loss of interest in good family relations.
• Pornography is addictive.
• Users tend to become desensitized to the type of pornography they use, become bored with it,  and then seek more perverse forms of pornography.
• Men who view pornography regularly have a higher tolerance for abnormal sexuality, including rape, sexual aggression, and sexual promiscuity.
• Prolonged consumption of pornography by men produces stronger notions of women as commodities or as "sex objects".
• It leads to other sexual immoralities like masturbation.

      The Christian View of Sexuality
From the Christian end, sexuality holds a privileged place in human relationships. It was originally designed as a sacred dimension in human life (Gen 2:22-25). It is a means in which we multiply and fill the earth. The Bible was strictly clear when it said man and woman would become one flesh thereby giving a definitive stand know what marriage entails. (Gen 2:24)
"But because of the temptation to sexual immorality, each man should have his own wife and each woman her own husband." 1Corinthians 7:2
God has set boundaries on sexual expression because of His holiness and as a means of protecting us from physical and emotional harm. By living within the borders of sexual purity, we can experience this wonderful gift from God as He intended. We are to live in the standard if Jesus Christ (Roman's 8:29).
"But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to gratify it's desires." Romans 13:14.
God's will for us is to live a sanctified life, one of abstinence from sin. Our body is meant to be God's temple, His presence cannot be found in a sinful being. (1 Thessalonians 4:3-5, 2 Timothy 2:22)
Such perversions like pornography drives God's presence away from us, our flesh becomes stronger than the spirit and thus gains control over us.
Who is a man without the presence of God?
I'd simply put it this way, a doomed man!
For the presence of God preserved us, strengthen us, keeps us from dangers of the earth (Psalms 24:3-5).
Don't get disconnected from God because of sexual immoralities, don't get crippled by its effects. Submit yourselves to God and live in accordance to His will. With and in only that would you live a life that would please God.
#Sexual Purity Matters.

  1. God bless you bro! Porn addiction like I once heard is a false prison that people get caught in... But you know, there is absolutely nothing Jesus cant help get us out. Thank you for sharing.
